Day 1

An uneventful train journey which got delayed by about 2 hours and an hour in a taxi driven by a maniac brought us to the doorsteps of the Mussorie. First glimpse of the town & I was majorly dissapointed. I expected the town to be facing the greater Himalayan range. Somehow I had missed the fact that it actually faced the Doon Valley.

Taking a rick from the Mall (taxis are not allowed on this stretch) we reached the hotel and faced the next round of disappointment. The room was pathetic. The single window was in the same level as a road which winded up next to the hotel. Result being we could not open the curtains at all. In a hill station if you cannot open the curtains and relax with the view then half the fun is lost. Though we asked for a change, the bugger at the front desk said that there were no rooms available. This after we had specifically asked for a room with a view in our reservation. Well, we threatened to check out and surprise surprise, a room materialised out of nowhere.

I'll not write anything more. Rather the rest of the travelogue would be through pictures that we took over the next 2 days.

Intro

It had been a long time since the two of us had gone anywhere. Close to 2 years had passed since our last trip to Singapore. Parenthood does impose certain restrictions. With Arya still in Calcutta, we thought this is as good a time as any that we took of for 2-3 days.

We narrowed down to Mussorie. I've wanted to go the mountains in winter for a long time now having never seen snow. Also most of the major hill stations had already been covered by us earlier. It had to be a weekend trip as M was having a rather hectic time at office. We decided to leave on 2nd Jan morning returning on 4th night.
